Theme: Does your end of school pool party have a theme? A theme will determine the style of invitations, décor and music – as well as the food and drinks you serve. Possible themes include a luau, a “drinks by the water” event for those graduating college, and a costume party – think pirates and mermaids.
Guest List: Who’s coming and how old are they? If you’re focusing on adult guests, is bringing children an option? If you’re focusing on keeping kids happy, do you know how many adults would be able to supervise the activities?
Games: Will you be providing toys and floatation devices to play with? Try water based games like a balloon toss or pool basketball.
Food: Unless you go big on the decorations and toys, food will be your biggest cost. To keep the cost down, encourage guests to bring sides, dessert and drinks. Also – hot dogs tend to be cheaper than burgers and you can’t go wrong with slicing up a watermelon!
With the right preparation, your pool party can be the easiest party you’ve ever hosted. Don’t forget the sunblock!
