It seems like school starts earlier every year, especially when you’re planning a pool party! If you want to get a back to school pool party organized, you’d better start soon.
Here are a few tips to get you going.
First of all, make sure that your pool deck is safe. Put all chemicals and cleaning tools out of reach of small children. If your children are young or some of the guests will be young children, make sure to have some extra floaties or lifejackets on hand (remember this is not a substitution for supervision).
Make a guest list. Are you having the whole class over? Or just a few close friends of your kids? It can be nice for a new class to get to know each other before school starts at a fun event like a back to school pool party.
Decide on games. If you’re just having a few friends over, they can probably make their own fun. It would be a nice touch to have a few new pool toys, however. Yet if you’re throwing that big back to school pool party, structured games can help keep things sane. Divide the kids into teams for relay races, either in the pool or in the grass. If you have a net, you could organize pool volley ball, too.
What are you going to feed people? You can serve food in fun ways to make it more festive without investing hours or lots of money. Get a few inexpensive toy buckets and fill them with snacks like chips, trail mix, crackers, or dried fruit. Keep a clean shovel near by as a serving spoon for added fun. If you’re very creative, try carving a shark out of a watermelon and filling it with berries or cut up melon.
Be sure to have plenty of drinking water on hand. You don’t want the guests at your back to school pool party to get dehydrated.
